"This week at the Mead, our team has been busy installing UV filtering window films. The museum has UV filtering shades installed on all of our windows already, but we take the preservation and care of our archival pieces very seriously. We are going the extra mile by installing the additional new filter films to ensure that our artifacts don't succumb to damaging light. Whether it's a bison hide, a Sioux Pow Wow Dress, a picture of J.B.S. Todd, a landscape painting commissioned by Dr. Leonard Mead himself, an antique silver tea tray, or Gurney's Nursery Catalog from the 1950's, we want to make sure ALL of the items that have been placed in our safekeeping receive the same level of preservative care."
